Easy Homemade Pizza

Adding a cheese topping is a traditional method of making pizza.

Adding a cheese topping is a traditional method of making pizza. The cheese pizza you order at your local pizza shop is most often topped with Mozzarella cheese. The preferred cheese in America is made with either whole milk or part skim milk. The pizza shop cheese is usually made with part skim milk.

There are a variety of other cheeses the home pizza chef can add to their pizzas to make wonderful meals for friends and family.

Here is a list of the more popular cheeses used on pizza:

  • Mozzarella
  • Parmesan
  • Fontina
  • Provolone
  • Monterey Jack
  • Swiss
  • Cheddar
  • Asiago
  • American
  • Ricotta
  • Feta
  • Gouda

You will find many of the cheeses used in recipes on the website, but experiment to find your favorite.

Cheese is expensive, so if you make lots of pizzas…or if you and your family just love cheese, buying in bulk will save you money.

Most local grocery stores carry large, pre-shredded packages. We buy pre-shredded mozzarella at Costco, I assume that the other club stores carry similar products.
