Easy Homemade Pizza

Deep Dish Pizza Dough

This deep dish pizza dough is a traditional recipe like you would find in the great Chicago pizza restaurants. Use a deep dish pan to ensure best results for your homemade pizza.

Ingredients:

  • 1½ packages active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 Tbs sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups unbleached flour
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup warm water (105-115F)

Directions:

Dissolve active dry yeast using 1/2 cup of warm water. Add sugar, mix well and set aside. Read Activate yeast for additional information about how to activate yeast.

In mixing bowl combine flour, salt, and corn meal and mix well. Add yeast mixture, vegetable oil, and 1/2 cup of warm water. Mix until dough ball forms. Read Mix dough for additional information about your preferred method.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for approximately 5 to 6 minutes, until soft and smooth.

Let rise for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until the dough has doubled in size.

Knock down dough ball and knead again for 2 minutes.

Letting the dough sit for 10 to 15 minutes will make it easier to spread in the pan.
