Easy Homemade Pizza

Goat Cheese and Pistachio Gourmet pizza recipes


Gourmet pizza recipes are characterised by unusual, non-traditional ingredients. Goat cheese, pistachios, and figs are good examples of ingredients that you do not normally see on a pizza. I have had my share of Goat Cheese pizza's, in fact, the tangy taste of a good Chevre is wonderful when combined with lots of different ingredients.

Adding pistachios to a pizza is not something that I had done before, but having spent the holidays in Phoenix I visited Pizzeria Bianco the legendary pizzeria ownded by Chris Bianco. Touted as one of the best pizzeria's in the country all of the food is excellent. I enjoyed the ROSA, a pizza topped with Red Onion, Parmigiano Reggiano, Rosemary, and Pistachios. The pizza was wonderful but I really liked the flavor of the pistachios, and this was the inspiration for adding them to one of my gourmet pizza recipes.

Try pairing this pizza with a savory pizza dough, the onion and garlic pizza dough would be a good base for these toppings.

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces crumbled Goat Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup sliced Figs
  • 1/4 cup pistachios, chopped
  • 2 Tsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 cup Arugula
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder

Directions:

  1. Sprinkle 1 Tsp Olive Oil over pizza crust before baking
  2. Sprinkle 1 Tsp Salt and Garlic powder evenly over pizza dough
  3. Layer Goat Cheese, sliced Figs, Arugula, and chopped Pistachios evenly in layers on the pizza dough
  4. Sprinkle with remaining Olive Oil
  5. Bake at 550 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes
This recipe works best with a thin crust pizza that will bake quickly. Be sure to check the pizza to ensure that the Arugula does not burn.
