Homemade Pizza Sauce

A quick and easy homemade pizza sauce made with ingredients already found in the pantry. Recipe can be increased, simply double all measurements.

Putting together a homemade pizza sauce will require a little practice, but is undoubtedly something which you can now learn. The great thing about making your own tomato sauce is that you can start with only a few ingredients and the result will be delicious.

A great pizza dough does not necessarily lead to the best pizza. Using a reliable tomato sauce and fresh ingredients will also be critical for successful pizza making. A great tasting pizza is one that balances these elements.

A benefit of homemade pizza sauce is that you can control the flavors and make something that works perfectly with the type of ingredients your family enjoys. It ties everything together, so to speak. The goal is for your simple pizza sauce recipe to bring together the entire pizza, a marriage between the crust, toppings, and sauce.

Ingredients:

• 3/4 Cup Tomato Sauce **
• 3 Tbs Tomato Paste
• 1/4 Tsp Oregano (dry)
• 2 Tsp Sugar
• 1 Clove Garlic (fresh)
• 1/4 Tsp Salt
• 1/8 Tsp Fresh Ground Pepper

Directions:

1. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients mixing well.
2. Sauce should sit for 30 minutes to blend flavors; spread over pizza dough and prepare pizza as desired.

** There are a number of variations possible, substituting or combining tomato products to meet your specifics likes and dislikes. For example, I prefer larger tomato "pieces" in my sauce and will often substitue crushed tomatoes (or make a separate batch of sauce) if i am cooking for adults. Our kids do not like the texture of the larger pieces...so the Tomato Sauce works perfectly if I am feeding them.
