Mario Batali Pizza Marinara
Try this Mario Batali Pizza Marinara that is simple to prepare, uses fresh ingredients, ad tastes great.
Pizza Dough
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 1/2 ounces yeast
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
Directions:
- Combine wine, water and yeast in a large bowl and stir until dissolved. Add the honey, salt and olive oil and mix thoroughly. Start by adding 1 cup of flour and make a wet paste. Add remaining flour and incorporate.
- Place dough on a lightly floured board and knead for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a towel. Let rise for 45 minutes.
Makes 3-14" pizzas
Pizza Marinara
Ingredients:
- 4 plum tomatoes
- 4 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 4 teaspoons fresh oregano , roughly chopped
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, sliced thinly
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Prepare dough as directed.
- Thinly slice one tomato and place on dough.
- Drizzle 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil over entire pizza.
- Sprinkle 1 teaspoon oregano and 1 clove thinly sliced garlic over tomatoes.
- Bake on a pizza stone until crust is golden brown, about 15 minutes. Repeat with remaining dough. Serve hot.
Other topping suggestions for pizza: Prosciutto Crudo Arugula Sausage (do not pre-cook) Anchovy Broccoli Rape, blanched first.
